Silvtan-40 contains Telmisartan 40 mg, a medication classified as an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). It is primarily used to manage high blood pressure (hypertension) and reduce the risk of cardiovascular events such as heart attacks and strokes, especially in patients with risk factors like diabetes, obesity, or heart disease.Telmisartan works by blocking the action of angiotensin II, a natural substance in the body that causes blood vessels to constrict. When this hormone is blocked, the blood vessels relax and widen, allowing blood to flow more freely. As a result, blood pressure is lowered, and the heart doesn't have to work as hard to pump blood throughout the body.
Silvtan-40 not only helps in controlling blood pressure but also protects the kidneys and heart from long-term damage caused by uncontrolled hypertension. It may also be prescribed in certain cases of diabetic nephropathy or chronic heart failure.
This medicine is usually taken once daily, with or without food, and should be taken consistently at the same time each day.
