Fixsanem-CV is a combination antibiotic medicine commonly prescribed to treat a wide range of bacterial infections. It contains Cefixime and Clavulanic Acid, a powerful combination that enhances the spectrum and effectiveness of treatment by overcoming bacterial resistance mechanisms.Cefixime is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that kills bacteria by preventing them from forming a protective cell wall. However, some bacteria produce an enzyme called beta-lactamase that makes them resistant to antibiotics like cefixime. To overcome this, Fixsanem-CV includes Clavulanic Acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, which blocks this enzyme and allows Cefixime to work effectively.
This combination is used to treat infections of the throat (pharyngitis, tonsillitis), ears (otitis media), nose and sinuses (sinusitis), lungs (bronchitis, pneumonia), and skin and soft tissue. It is also highly effective in dental infections, urinary tract infections (UTIs), gynaecological infections, and genital tract infections caused by susceptible bacterial strains.
Fixsanem-CV usually starts working within a few days of starting treatment, relieving symptoms like fever, pain, swelling, and discomfort. However, it's important to complete the full course of medication as prescribed by your doctor, even if symptoms improve earlier, to ensure complete bacterial eradication and to prevent resistance.
Common side effects may include nausea, diarrhea, stomach upset, or rash, but these are usually mild and temporary. In rare cases, more serious allergic reactions may occur, requiring medical attention.
Fixsanem-CV should only be used under medical supervision, especially in patients with a history of penicillin or cephalosporin allergies. Proper dosage, timing, and duration are key to effective treatment and minimizing side effects.
